There is an easy way to find out if you truly belong to the Lord, and that Heaven will indeed be your final home. You have probably read, or at least heard, about people who have been called “saints” over the years, and more than likely you understand that to mean people who have met the standards of the Roman Catholic church. In truth though, the Roman Catholic Pope has no more power to make a “Biblical Saint” than the Devil has. The truth of the matter though is that a “saint” is simply a living believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and one who follows Him exclusively. Ananias spoke about the evil that the Jewish man Saul (Paul) did to the living “saints” at Jerusalem before he was converted. (Acts 9:13). The apostle Peter fellowshipped with the living “saints” at Lydda. (Acts 9:32) The apostle Paul confessed that he indeed, shut up some of the living “saints” in prison, and consented unto their death also! (Acts 26:10) Paul spoke about ministering to the living “saints” at Jerusalem. (Romans 15:25) Paul addressed his letters to the living “saints” which were at Ephesus (Ephesians 1:1), Philippi (Philippians 1:1), and those at Colosse (Colossians 1:2). It is also quite obvious that when a “saint” physically dies, that they still remain “saints” because they will always be a “saint” in the Lord Jesus Christ! So plain and simple, a “saint” is a person who is indeed a true Bible believing Christian. Here are three important “tests” that YOU must absolutely “pass” if you claim to be a Christian and qualify to be a “saint”!
1] You MUST be born again according to Jesus Christ
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (John 3:3)
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (John 3:6-8)
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; (Titus 3:5)
2] You MUST believe that Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to Heaven
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:10-12)
3] You MUST believe that PEACE with God comes ONLY through FAITH in Jesus Christ
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: (Romans 5:1)
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. (Romans 5:6-9)
And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister; (Colossians 1:20-23)
And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. (Mark 1:15)
And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. (Luke 24:44-47)
A true Christian is a person who has repented of their sins, and put their faith in Jesus Christ. They also know that Jesus Christ paid the price for their sins with his very own blood on the cross. They have been regenerated by the Spirit of the living God, and without question they know that there is absolutely no other way to heaven outside of Christ. With that being said, they also know that those who do not trust in Jesus Christ are headed for an eternal Hell. So the question is this: Are You a Saint or an Ain’t?
