If you are looking for a prophetic word for the times that we are living in, then look no further than the words which were spoken by the late Keith Green. There are many people who are familiar with Keith Green and his music, and it would be an understatement to say that Keith was a powerful minister of Jesus Christ in his songs. Keith did more than sing and worship the Lord. He preached to the people through his songs, and he made a great impact during his short life as a new creation in Jesus Christ. It is most unfortunate that Keith died in a small plane crash in 1982, along with ten others, which included two of his children, Josiah and Bethany, an entire Missionary family of seven, and the Pilot. When I came to know the Lord in 1989 I read his book No Compromise as well as numerous tracts that his ministry distributed.
Many people do not realize that Keith Green was also very outspoken against the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, and he published a series of must-read articles in tract form, and I possess a copy of those discontinued, and out-of-print tracts. I am a former Roman Catholic so I know that Keith is “spot on” in his assessment of the Roman Catholic Church. I believe that the Catholic Chronicles should be read in ALL true churches, and I also believe that there could be a true revival in the Roman Catholic system if people knew what they were really being taught!
Here is the conclusion that Keith Green reached (from Chronicle Four) and that which he ended the Catholic Chronicles.

It is obvious by even this brief glimpse into the doctrines of mortal and venial sins, confession, penance, and purgatory, that the Roman Catholic Church has constructed one of the most unbiblical doctrinal systems that has ever been considered “Christian”. The fear, anguish, and religious bondage that such a system of “reward and punishment” creates, has tormented millions of lives for centuries, and continues to prey on those who are ignorant of the biblical way of salvation.
To merely call such a system “a cult”, would be to throw it into the vast category of religions and quasi-religions that are currently making the rounds of our college campuses and city streets, snatching up many an unsuspecting youth. No, the Roman Church is not a cult. It’s an empire!
With its own ruler, its own laws, and its own subjects! The empire has no borders, it encompasses the globe with its eye on every person who does not vow allegiance. It calls the members of other faiths “separated brethren” and has as its goal the eventual bringing together of everyone under its flag.
I know that many will not be convinced or moved by this article (or any of the others) to make such a conclusion. They are impressed by what they’ve heard about recent stirrings among the Catholics in the “charismatic renewal”. Many evangelicals (especially Charismatics) have been thrilled by the reports of Catholics speaking in tongues, dancing in the Spirit, having nights of joy and praise, even attending “charismatic masses”.
Mouths that used to speak out boldly against the Church of Rome have been quieted by the times. It no longer is in vogue to speak of the pope as “the antichrist” or the Catholic Church as the “whore of Babylon”. Now Protestants unwittingly believe that “our differences are not so great”. Ah, that is just what She needs us to think!
I’ve never completely understood why God led me to write these articles. But it becomes more clear with each day of study, and each page of research. Compare what Keith Green wrote there to what you see going on in the “church circles” today. It is almost as if it is a different type of “Christianity” and that is simply because it is. Millions have been seduced in recent decades, by the smooth talking Pastors and preachers who have watered down the Word of God, and sugar coated it to the point where people receive it as truth. The “world famous” Pastor Rick Warren recently referred to Pope Francis as “our Pope” just to show you how deep the corruption is within the church. As a former Roman Catholic myself, I can assure you that Pope Francis is not “my Pope” and he is not my “Holy Father,” either, but he is simply another lost soul in need of salvation. There are still over 100 Roman Catholic “anathemas” (curses) against Christians who refuse to believe the false teachings of Rome which were established at the Roman Catholic Council of Trent, and upheld by the Council of Vatican II. Folks you need to remember that each and every one of us is going to answer to the Lord Jesus Christ one day, and Jesus Christ will never honor a false gospel, and that includes the counterfeit gospel of Rome. It was the Spirit of the living God who opened up my eyes to the gross deception that had me bound. Jesus Christ saved my wretched soul out of the wickedness and darkness of the Roman Catholic system, and that is why I continue to warn people. The Lord showed me the gross deception of the Roman Catholic priesthood and their “sacrifice of the Mass” also. After I was born again the Holy Spirit also showed me the gross and wicked deception of Mary worship and the fallacy of all of the “Marian Apparitions” (appearances) throughout the world! Billy Graham and his son Franklin have worked hand in hand with the Roman Catholic system for decades and have used them as “altar workers” and counselors at their crusades for decades also. Multitudes of true Christians were tortured and murdered by the Roman Catholic system in the middle ages standing against the false gospel of Rome, while people such as Rick Warren, Billy and Franklin Graham, and Luis Palau work hand in hand with them now. I encourage you to take the time to read just one of the testimonies from Foxe’s Book of Martyrs or Martyr’s Mirror and then compare it to the double talk of the modern day “famous” Christians. The apostle Paul saw this coming almost 2000 years ago, when he wrote this:
Now the SPIRIT speaketh expressly, that in the LATTER TIMES some shall DEPART from the FAITH, giving heed to SEDUCING SPIRITS, and DOCTRINES of DEVILS; (1 Timothy 4:1)
If the doctrines of Rome cannot be considered “doctrines of devils” then nothing can. The only problem is that many of the modern day “Christian” leaders simply have no problem with their false teachings. We are truly living in perilous times.
