I was digging into the Word of God one day and the Lord quickened the following passage of scripture to me:
And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. (Exodus 3:13-15)
This is such a powerful passage of scripture here folks. Moses was being called by God Almighty to be the vessel of choice, to bring deliverance to the people of Israel who were in bondage in Egypt. Moses was very apprehensive about being called to such a task, and if you read the following chapters you will see how he resisted that call over, and over again. Moses knew that many of the people of Israel would more than likely doubt whether the Lord appeared unto him, and that is why he asked the Lord what he should tell them. Do not miss this folks. The Lord then told Moses to tell the people of Israel that ‘ . . . I AM hath sent me unto you.’ Not only that but the Lord made it clear to Moses that he wanted the people of Israel to know that He was the very same Lord God that their ‘fathers’ served, and that He was the very same God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob! Not only that but the Lord made it clear to Moses that this was His name FOREVER and that it would be a memorial to ALL generations!
So what is the point that I am trying to get across here? The point that I make is that the very same God who appeared unto Moses in the desert, and who declared His name ‘I AM’ to be FOREVER, and a memorial to ALL generations, is none other then the Lord Jesus Christ. What? Are you kidding me? Are you trying to tell me that the one who was born in a manger in Bethlehem, almost 2000 years ago, is the very same one who spoke to Moses out of the burning bush? Yep, that is what I am trying to tell you. In fact the Lord Jesus Christ declared Himself to be the ‘I AM’ to the Jewish leaders in Israel during His time on earth, but unfortunately most of them did not believe Him either!
Verily, verily, (Truly, truly) I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death. Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself? Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. (John 8:51-59)
Not only did the Jewish leaders NOT believe in Him, they even went so far as to tell Jesus that He was demon possessed! They were very angry with Jesus and they felt that He was making Himself something that He was not. They specifically asked Jesus in a mocking tone if He was greater than their ‘Father’ Abraham. It was at that point that Jesus told them that He was BEFORE Abraham, and He specifically used the words ‘I AM’ to make His point. Is Jesus greater than Abraham? Of course He is, because He is the very same ‘I AM’ who spoke to Moses out of the burning bush. In fact the very reason that the Jewish leaders took up stones to throw at Jesus, was because they thought that He was guilty of blasphemy (Leviticus 24:16) In other words, the Jewish people in Israel, knew full well what Jesus was saying when He used the words ‘I AM’!
It is most unfortunate that many people merely know Jesus as a little baby in a manger, or as a Jewish man who walked the shores of Galilee. My Jesus is the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords (Revelation 19:16), the one who possesses all power and authority in Heaven and in Earth (Matthew 28:18-20). My Jesus is the very same ‘I AM’ that spoke to Moses out of the burning bush.(Exodus 3:13-15) My Jesus is also described as a consuming fire. (Deuteronomy 4:24, Hebrews 12:29) the First and the Last, the Alpha and Omega, and the one who was dead, but is NOW alive forever more!(Isaiah 44:6, Revelation1:8,11,17-18,2:8) That is the REAL Jesus Christ, and that is the Jesus Christ, whom every person on planet Earth, both Jewish and Gentile (all mankind) must come to believe in and trust with their eternal souls.
Do not be led astray with Satanic distractions, such as the modern day fuss about the physical land of Israel, a land promise that was FULFILLED in the time of Joshua. (Joshua 21:43-45) Satan is very good at distracting people who need to get saved, and trust in Jesus Christ, and he will twist the scriptures with his doctrines of devils to do that. (1 Timothy 4:1) It is not about the land over in the Middle East, but it IS about the eternal SOULS of the Jewish and Gentile people over in Israel and throughout the rest of the world. All people need to humble themselves, repent and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Mark 1:15) before it is too late! That very same Jesus who declared Himself to be the ‘I AM’ (Exodus 3:13-15) also declared Himself to be the Way, Truth and Life. (John 14:6) which is in FULL agreement with His disciple Peter who declared Jesus to be the only way of salvation. (Acts 4:10-12)
