There is an article and video in today’s New York Times (by Gabe Johnson and Tamir Elterman), which highlights a group of Hasidic Jewish people who follow the teachings of Menachem Mendel Schneerson. This group of Hasidic Jewish people are waiting for the coming Messiah. Here is an excerpt from that article from the New York Times:
“We go out there like soldiers, with a mission to conquer the world with light, with goodness, with kindness,” said Yishai Eliefja, 23, a Hasidic Jew who works for the Chabad Lubavitch’s “mitzvah tanks,” or “synagogues on wheels.”
The mitzvah tanks, which will resume operation on Wednesday now that Passover has ended, were inspired by the teachings of the Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson and aim to engage secular Jews in acts of tradition and prayer in order to advance the coming of the Messiah.
What a dramatic difference there is here between true born again Bible believing Christians who believe that Jesus the Christ (Messiah) has already come, and this group of Hasidic Jewish people who are still waiting for his arrival. The Lord Jesus Christ certainly believed that HE was in truth the Messiah, and HE had many confrontations with similar Jewish religious groups who did NOT receive HIM as the Messiah! (John 1:11-12) Here is an actual quote from Jesus Christ:
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. (John 5:39-40)
The Lord rebuked those Jewish religious people who rejected Him, and he told them that their own scriptures testified about Him! The Old Covenant prophets testified about Jesus Christ, and yet the Jewish people for the most part still rejected Him! The Jewish apostle Paul was one of the greatest persecutors in history against true Christians UNTIL the REAL Jesus Christ (Messiah) revealed Himself to Saul (Paul) on the road to Damascus. (Acts 9) What did this same man Paul do after he was converted to the REAL MESSIAH? Here is the Biblical account:
But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake. And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus. And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God. But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests? (Acts 9:15-21)
The apostle Paul (formerly Saul) got SAVED, and he was filled with the Holy Ghost (Spirit) and he straightway (immediately) started to preach Jesus as the Christ (Messiah)! Where did the apostle Paul go to preach Christ (Messiah) as the Son of God? He went directly into the synagogues! The Lord opened Paul’s “spiritual eyes” to the reality that the Messiah had already come and His name is Jesus. Paul then realized that the Old Covenant scriptures, which included the “Books of Moses, the Psalms and the Prophets” all prophesied about Jesus Christ! That is something that each and every person in the world also needs to realize if they have a desire to enter Heaven! Do YOU honor the Son (Jesus) as much as YOU honor the Father?
For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (John 5:21-24)
It is the absolute desire of Almighty God that all people honor His Son, even as they honor Him! You cannot say that you LOVE God and reject Jesus Christ! That is a spiritual impossibility!
Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent. For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him. (Acts 13:26-27)
The scriptures are read every Sabbath day in Jewish synagogues throughout the world, and yet they continually MISS the truth, that Jesus the Messiah has already come. The passage of scripture above was written almost 2000 years ago, and yet it still applies today. Jesus revealed Himself as the MESSIAH, to a Gentile woman from Samaria, who was previously married five times, and who was presently living with a man who was not her husband. Was Jesus a LIAR or was He speaking the truth?
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The woman saith unto him, I know that MESSIAS (MESSIAH) cometh, which is called CHRIST: when he is come, he will tell us all things. JESUS saith unto her, I that speak unto thee AM HE. (John 4:21-26)
There is only ONE true Messiah and His name is Jesus Christ. Take Him or leave Him, that is your own choice. We have the scriptures in our hands which testify about Jesus Christ, and the words therein should put the absolute fear of God in your heart. The scriptures need to be read by all, because we are living in a day where the scriptures have been twisted into a “cotton-candy gospel”, and many of today’s ministers are some of the shrewdest manipulators on planet Earth. We are talking about Heaven versus Hell, Light versus Darkness and Salvation versus Damnation!
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3:36)
He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. (1 John 5:10-12)
