The book of Hebrews in the New Covenant (Testament) is a book that shows the reader very clearly that Jesus Christ is the only High priest you will ever need. I encourage all of you to read this book because it clearly contrasts the many Old Testament sacrifices against the one and final sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. When a person reads the Old Covenant (Testament) they learn about the Tabernacle and the Temple, and how the Lord required a blood atonement for sin. (Leviticus 16-17) The day of atonement was the most solemn day of the year when the High priest would enter into the most Holy Place (Holy of Holies) with the blood from the animal sacrifice to atone for the sins of the people. That day was a type and a mere shadow of what took place on the cross when Jesus Christ became the perfect sacrifice and atonement for the sin of mankind.
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. (Hebrews 9:11-15)
The cross of Christ and the perfect blood atonement which was provided for us can never be repeated again. When Jesus cried out “It Is Finished” (John 19:30) right before He died, he meant what he said. The veil in the Jewish Temple was torn in two pieces at the exact moment that Jesus died on that old rugged cross. (Matthew 27:51) There would be no more sacrifices that would be acceptable in the sight of a Holy and righteous God! The scripture passage lets us know that Christ is the mediator of the New Testament (Covenant) and there is no other mediator in the sight of Almighty God.
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; (1 Timothy 2:5)
It is indeed an atrocity that the Roman Catholic system along with their own Priesthood still continue the sacrifice of Christ, in their Mass on a daily basis. Here are some images from a previous post entitled The Deception Of The Roman Catholic Mass.
THE MASS: A SACRIFICE
As you can see the Roman Catholic Mass is described in their own catechism as a sacrifice where Christ is being offered in an “unbloody manner” by the Catholic Priest. That in itself should set the sirens wailing in your spirit if you have any biblical discernment at all. Why? Because it is ONLY the blood that can make an atonement for the soul! (Leviticus 17:11, Hebrews 9:22) So what then is the purpose of the Roman Catholic Mass in their own words?
PURPOSES OF THE MASS
Did you notice what the fourth purpose of the Mass was? It is (according to Rome) “to satisfy the justice of God for the sins committed against Him”! That one statement should awaken YOU to the greatest deception in the world. If your Pastor or preacher is ecumenical and your church has no problem fellowshipping with the Roman Catholic system, then make a copy of this article and hand it to them, and ask them if they believe that the Roman Catholic Mass satisfies the justice of God! The Roman Catholic Mass has been performed all over the world, on a daily basis, for centuries now, with the purpose of satisfying the justice of God. It could not be any clearer that Rome has completely missed the reason for the cross of Jesus Christ, and the truth that He paid the price when he died for our sins. I speak as a former Roman Catholic, and one who was dead in my sins, until I was truly born again and saved by the mercy of God in 1989. After I got saved, I became joined to the “royal priesthood” and the “Holy Nation” of ALL true believers, and the only believers that are recognized by Almighty God! (1 Peter 2:9-10)
Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; (Hebrews 10:19-20)
Any person who seeks forgiveness of their sins, and salvation can come to Jesus Christ by simple faith. He is the one and only mediator that you need and you have God’s Word on that. You have the ability as a believer in Jesus Christ to enter into the true spiritual “Holy Place” by the perfect, sinless blood that Jesus Christ shed for you! It does not matter how bad you have been or how many sins you have committed, the mercy of God is still there for you. It is not necessary for you to have the justice of God satisfied in any other way, than by the way which He has already accepted, when Jesus Christ died almost two thousand years ago. The world is filled with millions of well meaning religious people who are as lost as can be. They have been deceived into thinking that they are “good people” and they hope that they will somehow enter Heaven after they die. The GOOD NEWS is that God has already provided the answer for you in His Son Jesus Christ, but it is still up to YOU, whether YOU will choose to follow Him!
For when we were yet without strength, in due time CHRIST died for the UNGODLY. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But GOD commendeth his LOVE toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now JUSTIFIED BY HIS BLOOD, we shall be SAVED from wrath through HIM. (Romans 5:6-9)
